The first Crazy Hotel was constructed in 1914.  The hotel burned in 1925,
then the present Crazy Hotel was opened in 1927.  The Crazy Hotel, Crazy
Mineral Water and Crazy Water Crystals were the products that made the city
of  Mineral Wells famous.  Radio broadcasts were held daily from the lobby
of the hotel. 

The first Crazy Mineral Water Well was dug in 1880.  Then other water wells
were dug and drinking pavilions sprung up over the city.  There was the
Baker Mineral Water, Famous Mineral Water, Gibson Mineral Water, Lamar,
Star, etc.  Over 100,000 people a year visited the city to drink the water.

The Crazy sign was constructed over Highway 180 in downtown Mineral Wells
in the 30's and was torn down in 1958.  The Hotel placed the sign in the
center of town at Highway 180 and Highway 281 to show directions to the
Crazy Hotel.
